A napkin folded into a Christmas star would be perfect for the night before Christmas.

This tutorial is not too fast, and the napkin creator stops every now and then to show the desired effect of your folding.

This is an easy napkin to make with some concentration.  It’s important to keep reinforcing the folds as you go so you end up with an even and distinct star shape.

The star is guest-friendly also; it won’t take a lot of work for them to disentangle it in order to use it.

Step-By-Step Instructions

As you make a new fold, ensure that you carefully reinforce the line of the fold.

  • Unfold the napkin.
  • Take one side and fold to the center line.
  • Do the same on the other side.
  • Turn the napkin to a portrait view.
  • Fold the bottom half to the center and unfold it again.
  • Do the same on the other side.
  • Take the bottom and fold it to the next fold line.
  • Holding that section, turn the napkin over and fold again to the next fold line.
  • Holding the new section, turn the napkin over.
  • Repeat the process until you get to the end of the napkin.
  • Holding the napkin down in the center, take the left-hand leaf and fold it over on itself.
  • You should see two diagonal folds coming out from the left-hand corner.
  • Repeat with the leaves beneath, reinforcing the folds as you go.
  • Fold the new folds down flat.
  • Repeat this process on the other side.
  • Hold the napkin in the middle with your thumb and forefinger.
  • Fan out the folds from one side and then the other.
  • Arrange the folds so that they are even.
